A vision for specialist healthcare in Burundi

Stone Hospital is a tertiary healthcare development in Burundi, promoted by STONE LIMITED. The project aims to bring diagnostics, specialist treatment and supporting services together in a phased hospital development.

The concept responds to the difficulties families face when specialist treatment requires travel outside the country. Its proposed approach combines clinical facilities and medical technology with recruitment, professional training and institutional partnerships. The planned hospital includes outpatient and inpatient services, surgical facilities and critical care, with additional specialist services introduced as the project develops.

The concept paper estimates an initial Phase I investment of US$10 million. This is a proposed budget, rather than confirmation of funding secured. Stone Hospital seeks healthcare, technical and financing partners to support a facility intended to serve Burundi and, over time, the wider region.
